Lifestyle Medicine Grand Rounds with Kim Scheurer, MD and Neal Barnard, MD

On December 14, 2021, PCRM President, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Founder of Barnard Medical Center and best selling author, Neal Barnard, MD served as guest panelist on the RLMI and IHA sponsored Lifestyle Medicine Grand Rounds.

Case Presenter Kim Scheurer, MD, who serves as Medical Provider at both Plant-Based TeleHealth and her own practice, DOKS Lifestyle Medicine, presented a case entitled The Diagnosis is not Always the Correct Diagnosis about a patient with elevated a1c and other chronic conditions, including obesity. Addressing her conditions, Dr. Scheurer helped the patient lower her a1c and lose weight.

Other panelists included IHA’s Dr. Bob Breakey and Dr. Megan Grega, Kellyn Foundation and ACLM.

RLMI’s Dr. Ted Barnett served as Moderator and RLMI.

Caldwell Esselstyn, MD: Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease

As part of the Rochester Lifestyle Medicine Lecture Series and Rochester Area Vegan Society, on November 14, 2021, Caldwell Esselstyn, MD presented to a virtual) audience on How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.

Esselstyn is a Cleveland Clinic physician and surgeon who has authored several books and papers and is a global leader in the prevention and reversal of heart disease. He is also an Olympic Gold Medalist

Lifestyle Medicine Grand Rounds with John McDougall, MD

On November 16, 2021, esteemed Dr. John McDougall served as guest panelist on the RLMI and IHA sponsored Lifestyle Medicine Grand Rounds. We had an engaging discussion about a patient with elevated cholesterol and A1c3b – a biomarker for Diabetes, and the benefits of employing the tenets of lifestyle medicine in addressing chronic conditions.

Case presenter was IHA’s Dr. Melissa Sundermann. Other panelists included IHA’s Dr. Bob Breakey, Rochester Regional’s Dr. Kerry Graff and Plant-Based Teleheath’s Dr. Kim Scheuer.

RLMI’s Dr. Ted Barnett served as Moderator and RLMI and URMC’s Dr. Susan Friedman as Case Coordinator.

50 registrants attended, with several countries represented.
